The USS Cleveland (LCS-31) is the fourth United States Navy ship to proudly carry the Cleveland name. As the final Freedom-class Littoral Combat Ship, she represents innovation, strength, and the enduring spirit of our city.
Although several ships have carried the Cleveland name before, LCS-31 will be the first to be commissioned right here in our city — in the heart of the Great Lakes. This unprecedented honor brings a historic naval milestone directly to Cleveland’s shoreline.
The 2026 commissioning ceremony marks the moment the ship officially enters active naval service. It will unite service members, families, community leaders, and supporters from across the country to celebrate Cleveland, the crew, and the ship’s future mission.
