For years, I struggled with the daily pain and uncertainty of Ulcerative Colitis. The disease affected every part of my life, leaving me exhausted and wondering if I would ever truly feel well again. After years of battling pain and discomfort, I faced the difficult decision to undergo a proctectomy and colectomy.
What felt terrifying at the time turned out to be the turning point that saved my life. My stoma, which I once feared, has become something I am forever grateful for. It gave me back not only my health but also my hope, strength, and freedom. Living with an ostomy hasn’t always been easy, but it has taught me resilience, acceptance, and even love for a part of myself I never thought I could embrace. Today, I no longer just survive—I thrive. My ostomy is a symbol of strength, and it reminds me daily of how far I’ve come.
This journey inspired me to create Empowear Swimwear—a brand designed to help others living with ostomies feel secure, confident, and stylish. Through Empowear, I hope to empower people to embrace life fully without fear of stigma or limitation.
In addition, I am forming a Foundation dedicated to raising awareness about ostomies and giving back to the veterans in our community—many of whom live with the same challenges I do. It’s my mission to turn my personal struggle into a source of strength, support, and empowerment for others.
